Research of new online handwriting features in children with graphomotor difficulties
Gavenčiak, Michal ; Mekyska, Jiří (referee) ; Zvončák, Vojtěch (advisor)
In the Czech Republic, there is currently no objective method to diagnose graphomotor difficulties in children. Ongoing research uses modern digitizers to capture the hand-writing process and quantify its parameters. The first goal of this thesis is to develop software tools to faciliate work with the collected data, such as database validation and writing exercise rating, done by specialists. Another goal of this thesis is to design new on-line handwriting parameters which are then to be analysed on a cohort of school children from 2nd to 4th class of primary school (n=239). The implementation of two desktop programs on the .NET platform is described, among three new quantifying parameters based on the principles of isochrony, two-dimensional cross-correlation, and geometrical centroid. All three parameters show significant correlation (r = [0,2; 0,3])with the HPSQ-C rating in 2nd- and 4th-graders and correlation (𝜌= [0,2; 0,5]) with specialist’s subjective scores in all children from the cohort. The analysis suggests children with graphomotor difficulties struggle with regulating handwriting speed and working memory.
Specifické poruchy učení u žáků středních škol
Křivánková, Sára
The bachelor's thesis deals with the education of pupils with special learning disabilities in secondary schools. The theoretical part consists of the definition of terminology and clarification of individual learning disorders. It also includes diagnosis and re-education of specific learning disabilities. The theoretical part is processed on the basis of information from professional sources on the studied issue. The practical part consists of an exploratory investigation focused on individuals with a specific learning disability. It uses a qualitative approach and contains the elaboration of three case studies. The exploratory investigation is based on the method of semi-structured in-depth interview and observation. The survey also draws on individual documents of the respondent, such as an individual educational plan or recommendations from pedagogical and psychological counselling services. The main goal is to find out how students with a specific learning disability manage the demands of their studies. Another area of interest is finding out what helps students in their studies and what, on the contrary, burdens them. We also find out how do teachers help them and how do they perceive their specific learning disability. Furthermore we examined what are the pupils' relationships with their classmates and how did they perceive the transition from primary to secondary school.

Vatľaková, Veronika ; Bartoňová, Miroslava (advisor) ; Hádková, Kateřina (referee)
The diploma thesis the Influence of physical activity on pupils with specific learning disabilities at primary school presents readers with basic information and insight into the issue of specific learning disorders. The diploma thesis is divided into four chapters. The first chapter is about definitions and causes of specific learning disabilities. Education and the legislative framework in the Czech Repuplic are also defined there. The second chapter is about approaches and reeducation of individual specific learning disorders. The text in third chapter is about the development of movement as an important part of human's life and it also describes therapeutical activities which are applied in primary schools. The goal of this diploma thesis is to present a set of games and activties, which help the development of gross and fine motor skills of pupils, and therefore affect the quality of learning. The research in form of qualitative research survey is realised in the practical part of this thesis and it's described in chapter four. The conclusion of the work presents an evaluation of the observed areas in which the students fail and in which there was improvement due to the application of music-movement activities. Research of the new augmentation methods for online handwriting
Sigmund, Jan ; Burget, Radim (referee) ; Zvončák, Vojtěch (advisor)
Graphomotor difficulties of school-aged children are characterised by problems in handwriting and drawing and can lead to developmental dysgraphia. Timely clinical diagnosis is critical to provide preventive care. In practice however, it is not feasible on day-to-day basis due to the need for expert staff and the prevalence of difficulties up to 30\%. Machine learning models can serve as an accessible objective tool for evaluating graphomotor functioning. In most cases there is not enough data collected, which results in poor classification performance. Therefore, this thesis focuses on data augmentation of online handwriting. Generating artificial samples is based on recombination of intrinsic mode functions, obtained by empirical mode decomposition. IMFs of health controls, numbering 72, and with graphomotor difficulties, 94 children in total, are calculated. The decomposition is performed specifically on X and Y coordinate time series. IMFs of the same indices of different subjects are randomly interchanged, thus producing a new signal. Then, the graphomotor features of the original and artificial time series are extracted. Only the spatial ones related to the coordinates are selected. Finally, the correlations of the features of the two databases will be analyzed and compared.

Self-concept of pupils with specific learning disabilities at the 2nd level of primary school
PETERKOVÁ, Klára
The aim of the bachelor thesis' research was to find out and describe the level of a self-concept of primary school pupils with specific learning disabilities, what influences their self-concept and what contributes to a positive self-concept and a subsequent design of an appropriate educational approach to pupils with specific learning disabilities in terms of optimizing their mental development. The bachelor thesis is divided into two parts, the theoretical and the research part. The theoretical part defines the basic characteristics of individual learning disabilities, the etiology and the consequences of specific learning disabilities. A separate chapter deals with a legislative definition of the education of pupils with special needs. Furthermore, the basic terminology from developmental psychology concerning the personality of an older school age pupil is described. The last chapter of the theoretical part explains the term self-concept and mentions partial areas of this phenomenon. The research part provides a description of the research design and describes the individual research methods. A triangulation approach which combines the method of observation, document analysis and semi-structured interview was chosen. The chapter 9 and its subchapters describe and analyse the results of a research survey that was carried out during the school year 2019/2020. The discussion and the conclusion of the work summarize, on the bases of the results obtained from the research part, the fulfilment of the aim of the work and provide answers to the stated research questions. Based on the results of the research survey, it was found that a specific disorder plays a very important role in the self-concept of primary school pupils, affecting a number of key aspects to a healthy self-concept. Pupils are usually insufficiently informed about their problems.
